January 22, 2008 Dear Sigma Brother: I am writing to give you an update on the Chi Phi re-colonization efforts at U of I, to ask for your help, and to ask you to save some dates. Chi Phi Re-Colonization Update On-campus Informal Rush started and has already generated considerable momentum. Mike Orta, Chi Phi's Director of Expansion, has been on-campus orchestrating the process. He is about to extend bids to two candidates, has a group of 12 men of quality who are actively interested, and hopes to have 20 pledges within a week or so! We Need Your Help! Mike's success is beyond all of our expectations, but we need your help in two areas to keep the momentum going:
Donations
Save the DateFirst and foremost, we need funding. The re-colonization budget is $31,000. National has committed $10,000, but we have committed to raising the remaining $21,000. Through the very generous donations of 30 alumni, we have already raised over $15,000. That leaves another $6,000 outstanding due by February 6! If you can afford it (and no donation is too small), please send a check made out to "Sigma of Chi Phi Alumni Association" at your earliest convenience to our Association Treasurer:
Larry Tantilla
Alumni Presence at Feb. 2 Rush Event449 S. Ardmore Ave Villa Park, IL 60181 In addition to opening your checkbook, we need alumni support at a Rush event on Saturday, February 2 in Champaign (exact time and location are still to be determined). So, meet and help recruit the founding pledges, reconnect with some of your Chi Phi brothers, and revisit the campus. For Hoops fans, the Illini will play Purdue at 2:30 PM in Assembly Hall (http://www.tickco.com/schedule/illinois-fighting-illini-basketball/). Whether you come for the day or spend the night, it promises to be a good time! If you can attend, please notify Tracy Vanderwiel at vndrwl@msn.com. Finally, please save the date for a Family Friendly social event on April 19, 2008 (Time and Location TBD). We would love to see you and yours! Fraternally,
