February 13, 2008 Dear Chi Phi Brother: Saturday, February 2nd was a landmark day in the rebirth of the Sigma Chapter of Chi Phi. On this day in Champaign, 12 men pledged Chi Phi in the first pledge ceremony held in over a decade! The pledge was administered by Sigma of Chi Phi Alumni Association President Tracy Vanderwiel and Vice-President Greg Goze. The following alumni served as witnesses: Stephen Koernig, Ed Pelz, Gregg Peck, Tony Nichols, Jason Rosado, Ed Mandera, Lionel Go, and Larry Tantilla. The class members are diverse, talented and extremely motivated. Elections were held on the 2nd immediately following the ceremony and Ao Wang was elected to the Alpha position. Ao is a Senior majoring in Biochemistry and also serves as a Resident Advisor. His goal is to ensure the Sigma chapter grows in number of members and in character. We hope to have a short bio on the other officers posted on the website in the coming weeks. In the meantime, we have posted some pictures from the pledge ceremony on the website. Since the ceremony on the 2nd, another man has taken the pledge, bringing membership of the first pledge class up to 13 men. The existing pledges are still recruiting and hope to further increase their ranks over the next couple of weeks. Please join us in welcoming the pledges to the Chi Phi Fraternity. Fraternally, Your Sigma of Chi Phi Alumni Board
Don't forget: April 19th is our next social event. Wives, significant others and children all invited, so please save the date
